No more mandatory ads...the good old days

Some long-time registrants may remember it: we used to have no ads on Dot TK domains. Simply because Dot TK was still in its testing-phase. Later on, when income and revenue got important, we added advertisements. First as pop-ups and interstitials, and now included in a dash-board frame on top or with inline technology. These ads were mandatory. By paying for the domain or by text-ing a mobile SMS message in some countries the ad could be removed. Now this is history. The good old days are back!

If you login to My Dot TK you will find the "Ad Selector" under TiKinet. There you can turn off your TiKilinks. There is one exception: if your website has more traffic than others (medium or high amount of visitors) then we do place a mandatory ad on our website. Also, when you add a TiKilink yourself, other (non-commercial) TiKilinks will appear on your website as well. But that's a fair deal: you promote others, others promote you.

The Internet and Dot TK got a lot friendlier today. Less aggressive and less commercial. And with the non-commercial Tokelau islands in the back of our minds, this is only a great way forward.
