Since years Dot TK had commercial ads on its website. It was a way for our company to make money. However, with the current growth of our paid domain portfolio; and with the wish to grow further exponentially, we decided to take the ads down! Forever! That's very good news for everyone out there. No more disturbing ads on your website, but your own personal domain name without ads, which is yours as long as you use it.

The minimum requirement of 25 hits every 90 days is still there, just to keep domain name hijackers out. TiKinet is there as well, a great alternative to promote your website and to get more visitors.

Starting today Free Domains mean really More Visitors and No More Ads...

If you pay for your domain, you also get the legal ownership rights of your domain, you can transfer or sell your domain, you can run your own DNS and there are no minimum user requirements. That's why still many people buy into Dot TK.

With our change to No More Ads we are still updating some of our servers. You may find, in your own local language, information about advertisements or ads. Please ignore this. Within the next 5-19 days (depending on the language) the entire website will be fully updated with the correct information.

That was pretty hard - translating our entire service in Arabic. But good news, thanks to Karim, Mohammed and Danny it's all done. Phfiew! Finally we got it right to read from right to left (and not from left to right). I never knew that Arabic didn't have any differences between uppercase and lowercase: now I know!

That means that in about a week or so Dot TK will be available in Arabic too! Great for everyone in eastern and western Arabic countries. This is language number 13 we add to our service offering, and we are in the process of translating Dot TK in even more languages. Stay tuned :)

Video Winners and Virtual Fish

An exciting day today at Dot TK! Not only our mascot Dotty has chosen four winners of the video competition, also the Ambassador Program is officially launched today.

Who is Dotty you say? Well just an imaginary character, nothing serious! Yeah people, Dotty isn’t real! (but she is here to stay) In the future Dotty can even be your friend on social networks and alike. Watch out for Dotty! Or for the people that impersonated her on the video .. some guys and girls were hilarious! Check out www.dotty.tk.

More serious business is the Ambassador Program. We had this program a couple of years ago but we revived it into our new Web 2.0 application. We really want to listen to our ambassadors to understand what kind of problems they face with Dot TK and what new ideas they have. As an ambassador you can also earn virtual fish if you refer new registrants to us. And this fish (see it as credits) can be redeemed for great goodies, even goodies with your own domain name on it. Cool thing about this new Ambassador Program is that your web visitors never leave your website. The entire Dot TK Registration process is done within an IFRAME. Technically this is our small piece of website in your website. By simply copy- and pasting some HTML code you start to earn this virtual fish. If you login to My Dot TK and apply to become an Ambassador, you can start earning fish today. We normally approve applications within a couple of hours.

Oh and yeah, we added Russian as a new language today as well :) Enjoy our services everyone!

New languages we'll add this week: Portuguese and Indonesian

Dot TK is growing, and growing fast. We send out several notices and press releases late last week
to people that commercial advertisements on the Dot TK network are not mandatory anymore. And that made a lot of people very happy.

But there is more good news. Kelly is working from our office in London with many translators all around the world to make Dot TK available in even more languages as we already have.

The first new languages that we'll release this week are Portuguese and Indonesian. Portuguese is widely spoken in Brazil and (of course) Portugal, making Portuguese ranked sixth in the list of world's major languages. A staggering 250 million people on our lovely planet speak Portuguese.

And then there is Bahasa Indonesian. Bahasa means 'the language' and therefore Bahasa Indonesian is the language of Indonesia, a version of the Malay language. I am very happy that a total of 450 million people from Brazil, Portugal and Indonesia can use Dot TK in their own local language very shortly. And of course it's pretty cool to see how Dot TK looks and feels in those languages, even if you don't speak any of them.

No more mandatory ads...the good old days

Some long-time registrants may remember it: we used to have no ads on Dot TK domains. Simply because Dot TK was still in its testing-phase. Later on, when income and revenue got important, we added advertisements. First as pop-ups and interstitials, and now included in a dash-board frame on top or with inline technology.

More than a year ago we invented Dotty, our Hot Chick Tokelau character that came suddenly alive on our main website www.dot.tk. She got some fans already! And we are going to do some cool things with Dotty in the near future (but we'll keep that our own little secret for now) :)

This week, on Friday, the Dotty Video competition will end. You can still participate! By making a cool video that represents Dotty and your own domain name, you not only promote us, but also yourself. And there is a prize of 1000 US Dollars for the best video.
